Accessibility statement Meteolux

Accessibility statement

The organisation "MeteoLux" is committed to making its mobile application accessible, in accordance with the law of 28 May 2019 on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public sector bodies.

What is digital accessibility?

Everyone should be able to easily use and consult the information on a website or an app, in particular people with disabilities and/or using assistive software or specialised equipment (blind, partially sighted or otherwise disabled people).

Compliance status

The mobile application is partially compliant with the European Standard EN 301 549 and the RAAM v1 implementing the standard, due to the reasons listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s) :

Non-compliance

  • Several tables are present in the app without adequate headings, they do not always allow a relevant reading with assistive technologies; but they are understandable line by line.
  • The application is not available in landscape mode.
  • Some words are not enlarged when zoomed in at 200%.
  • In the favourites, the list of suggested communes is not fully rendered and difficult to select with assistive technologies.

Disproportionate burden

  • In the Climatology section, the first tab presents information in graphical form. This tab has some shortcomings (not rendered by assistive technologies and the contrast is too low). However, the data is also presented in a simple table, readable in a linearized way. For all data of this type, we can provide you with information on request by telephone or e-mail (info@meteo.public.lu).
  • The accessibility of the interactive observations section is considered a disproportionate burden because the content is dependent on exempted content (map and comments provided by users) which are not under our control.

Content not within the scope of the law of 28 May 2019

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 10 February 2022. The statements contained in this declaration are accurate and based on an effective conformity assessment of this mobile application with the requirements defined in RAAM v1, such as an auto-assessment conducted by the organisation "MeteoLux".

Control procedure

Websites or apps created under the Renow standardisation reference system are developed within a generic and centralised framework and architecture in accordance with project management processes and the Renow checklist. To guarantee neutrality, we regularly call on accessibility experts to check the compliance of sites or new features.

Each site is evaluated at several stages:

  1. During the design of the content structure.
  2. During the creation of graphic and functional models.
  3. Immediately prior to going live.

Once the site or app is online, checks are carried out as follows:

  • the editors check access to all new content before it is published ;
  • each new functionality of the site or app is evaluated before it is published.

During evaluations, the site or app is tested with the most common screen readers, tablets, mobile phones and PCs. It is also tested with different web browsers and mobile operating systems (compatibility up to 2 versions below the current version).

Contributor competencies

The work procedures include the application of internet guidelines at the various stages of the site's or app's development (writing, management, development).

Our employees have the knowledge and skills required to correctly apply the Internet guidelines.

Feedback and contact information

If you notice a lack of accessibility, send us an email to info@meteo.public.lu: please describe your problem and the page on which it occurred. We commit to replying to you by email within 1 month at the latest. Within reasonable limits, the correction of the accessibility issue will preferably be carried out online such as to remedy the problem in a sustainable way. Should this not be possible, the information you requested can be made available to you in an accessible format of your choice:

  • in writing in a document or email;
  • orally in an interview or by phone.

Enforcement procedure

Should the reply be unsatisfactory, you also have the possibility of informing the Information and Press Service (Service information et presse), the body responsible for supervising accessibility, via its online complaint form or the Ombudsman, the mediator of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
